For this project, I chose Nandor from the dark comedy TV show What We Do In The Shadows. Nandor, being a 757 year old vampire from the Ottoman Empire and not at all up-to-date with modern culture, always dresses in very ornate clothing. It was too small of a detail to hand-sew, but no glues would stick to the pleather of the shirt without falling off a day later. I did many tests to try these options out before applying it to my final shirt. I ended up making two capes of the final fabric, since I figured out how to get a cleaner, straighter seam due to how the gold inner lining was folded out. So immediately I tried to push what that actually meant. This resulted in many odd shapes trying to steer away from your classic "chair" as best I could. For the triangle-driven design, I went with a solid volumous chair and a light simple table with some volumes. For the wire design, the table worked well but the chair was still to busy. Planning was the most important step. For this design, the material couldn't simply be bent like the models I had made. The angled sides of each of the sections allow them to fit together to create many different combinations of tunnel shapes. You could use a measuring cup, but what if that's too messy? What if the heavy containers are too bulky to lug out and put back in your pantry? Shouldn't there be an better way? One of the most important parts we had to test was the threads around the top of the clear container. The fabric used for this bag came in a thick strip with two kinds of fabric already sewn into it. It imidiately made me think of a messenger bag, and soon after I was planning out the patterns to make it. This bag features a cross-body strap that connects the bag at the top left corner and the bottom right. This drove the design to become a simple drawstring bag with a triangular pouch. This fabric is blue on one side and black on the other, which allowed me to use two colors but keep the concistancy of the fabric. The angled sides of each of the sections allow them to fit together to create many different combinations of tunnel shapes.
